Introduction
Welcome to Legably. We are a U.S.-based online lawyer directory that connects individuals and businesses with verified attorneys and law firms across all 50 states. Our platform is designed to make finding legal representation easier, more transparent, and more accessible for everyone.
Throughout these Terms and Conditions, when we use the words "Legably," "we," "us," or "our," we are referring to the Legably platform and its operating team. When we say "you" or "your," we mean any individual or entity accessing or using our website and services.
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of legably.com and all services offered through it. We recommend bookmarking this page and reviewing it periodically, as we may update these terms from time to time.
2. Eligibility
To use Legably's services — including registering an account, submitting listings, or leaving reviews — you must be at least 18 years of age. By using our platform, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under the laws of your jurisdiction.
If you are accessing Legably on behalf of a law firm or other organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms and Conditions.
3. Account Registration
Certain features of Legably — such as submitting a law firm listing, managing your attorney profile, or interacting with our platform — require you to create an account. When registering, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information
- Keep your account credentials confidential and not share them with others
- Update your information promptly if anything changes
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
Legably is not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized access to your account resulting from your failure to keep your login credentials secure. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that contains false or misleading information.
4. Acceptable Use of Our Services
By using Legably, you agree to use our platform responsibly and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Specifically, you agree to:
- Comply with all relevant laws, including those related to privacy, intellectual property, and consumer protection
- Provide truthful and accurate information at all times
- Respond promptly and honestly to any communications from Legably regarding your account or listing
- Respect the rights of other users and third parties on our platform
5. User-Generated Content (UGC)
Legably allows users to submit certain types of content to our platform, including reviews, comments, profile descriptions, and other materials (collectively referred to as "User-Generated Content" or UGC).
What You Can Submit
You may submit UGC in areas of the platform where this functionality is made available. By submitting content, you confirm that you own it or have the necessary rights to share it on our platform.
What You Cannot Submit
You agree not to submit content that is:
- False, misleading, defamatory, or fraudulent
- Unlawful, abusive, obscene, or discriminatory in nature
- In violation of any confidentiality agreement or third-party rights
- An infringement of patents, trademarks, copyrights, or any other intellectual property rights
- Spam, unsolicited promotions, or irrelevant advertising
- Content that contains malware, viruses, or any harmful code
Our Rights Over UGC
Legably reserves the right to review, moderate, remove, or decline any user-generated content at our sole discretion, without prior notice or explanation. We do not guarantee that all submitted content will be published or retained on our platform. We are not obligated to maintain a copy of any UGC once it has been removed.
6. License Granted for User-Generated Content
By submitting content to Legably, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, display, distribute, reproduce, and adapt your content as part of our platform and marketing activities. This license does not transfer ownership of your content to Legably — you retain all rights to your original submission.
You understand and agree that you are not entitled to any compensation or revenue share if Legably generates income through advertising or promotion involving your UGC.
7. Risks and Responsibilities Related to UGC
Legably does not verify, endorse, or take responsibility for any user-generated content posted on our platform. All UGC represents the personal opinion of the individual who submitted it and does not reflect the views or position of Legably.
If you choose to rely on UGC — such as attorney reviews or firm descriptions — you do so at your own risk. Legably is not liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or misleading information contained in user-submitted content.
8. Risks of Using Legably's Directory Services
Legably is a directory and referral platform. We list attorneys and law firms to help users identify potential legal representation. However, please be aware of the following:
- Legably does not participate in, endorse, or take responsibility for any agreement, contract, or transaction between a user and an attorney or law firm listed on our platform
- We do not guarantee the quality, availability, or performance of any attorney or law firm listed in our directory
- We are not responsible for any financial, legal, or personal damages arising from your engagement with a listed attorney or firm
- The listing of any attorney or firm on Legably does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement by us
- If submitted information about a listing is found to be inaccurate or inadequate, we reserve the right to remove or decline it without notice
9. Prohibited Activities
To protect the integrity of our platform and the safety of our users, the following activities are strictly prohibited on Legably:
- Submitting fake, biased, or compensated reviews (unless in strict accordance with our disclosed review guidelines)
- Manipulating or influencing other users' reviews or ratings
- Registering with a false identity or impersonating any person or organization
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to our platform, servers, or databases
- Using automated tools, bots, or scraping software to extract data from our website
- Reproducing, copying, or redistributing our content without written permission
- Reverse engineering or attempting to access the source code of our platform
- Engaging in "framing," "mirroring," or any activity designed to simulate or replicate our website

Violation of any of the above may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account, and may also expose you to legal liability.
10. Intellectual Property and Ownership
All content on Legably — including but not limited to our logo, website design, source code, graphics, text, and data — is the exclusive property of Legably or its licensed partners, and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
User-generated content, including attorney profiles, firm descriptions, and reviews submitted by users, remains the intellectual property of the individual or organization that submitted it. By submitting content, you grant Legably the license described in Section 6 above.
You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, or commercially exploit any content from Legably without our prior written consent.
11. Copyright Policy
Legably respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. If you believe that any content on our platform infringes your copyright, please submit a formal notice to us that includes:
- Your full name and contact information
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed
- The specific URL or location on Legably where the infringing content appears
- A signed statement confirming that you are the rights holder or are authorized to act on their behalf
- A good-faith declaration that the use of the content is not authorized by the copyright owner
We will investigate all valid copyright complaints and take appropriate action, which may include removing the infringing content and, in cases of repeated violations, terminating the responsible account.
12. Subscription and Payment Terms
Legably offers premium subscription services for attorneys and law firms who wish to enhance their listing visibility, access featured placement, or use other promotional services on our platform. The following terms apply to all paid subscriptions:
Subscription Commitment
All premium subscription plans require a minimum commitment period, as specified at the time of purchase. Your subscription begins on the start date confirmed in your purchase confirmation and remains active until the stated end date.
Fees and Payment
All subscription fees are clearly displayed before purchase and include any applicable taxes. Payment must be made through accepted methods including credit card, debit card, or bank transfer. By providing your payment details, you authorize Legably to charge you on a recurring basis according to your chosen billing cycle.
Renewals and Cancellations
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period. If you wish to cancel your subscription and prevent automatic renewal, you must notify us at least five (5) business days before your renewal date. Downgrading your subscription plan is not permitted within the first 12 months of your initial purchase.
Upgrades and Pricing Changes
You may upgrade your subscription at any time on a pro-rata basis. Legably reserves the right to modify subscription pricing at any time; however, price changes will only take effect at the start of your next billing cycle and we will notify you in advance.
Service Modifications
Legably reserves the right to modify, discontinue, or update its services and platform features at any time in order to improve user experience. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes in advance.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
Legably provides its platform and directory services on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We make no warranties or representations — express or implied — regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of any information, attorney listing, or service available through our platform.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legably expressly disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that our website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components. Your use of our platform is entirely at your own risk.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Legably, its directors, officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — our platform or services. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, business, revenue, or goodwill.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for certain types of damages, Legably's liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Legably harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — that arise out of or relate to:
- Your violation of these Terms and Conditions
- Any content you submit to our platform
- Your use of our services or any activity you conduct through Legably
- Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
In the event of any dispute arising from these Terms, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve the matter informally by contacting Legably directly. If a resolution cannot be reached within 30 days, the dispute shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in the District of Washington (WA).
You agree that arbitration will be conducted on an individual basis only — not as part of any class, group, collective, or representative action. By agreeing to arbitration, you waive any right to a jury trial for covered disputes.
17. Links to Third-Party Websites
Legably may contain links to external websites, including the websites of attorneys and law firms listed in our directory. These links are provided for informational purposes only. Legably does not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or services of any third-party website.
Accessing third-party websites through links on Legably is done entirely at your own risk. We strongly recommend reviewing the terms and privacy policies of any external site before providing your personal information or engaging in any transaction.
18. Entire Agreement and Severability
These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Legably regarding your use of our platform and supersede all prior agreements or understandings on the same subject.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court or arbitration body, that specific provision will be modified or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
19. Waiver of Rights
Legably's failure to enforce any right or provision under these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be made in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Legably to be effective.
20. Assignment of Rights
You may not assign, transfer, or delegate any of your rights or obligations under these Terms without Legably's prior written consent. Any attempted assignment without consent will be considered void and of no effect.
Legably may freely assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms — fully or partially — including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, without prior notice to you.
21. Changes to These Terms
Legably reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users through email or a notice on our website.
Your continued use of Legably after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised agreement. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using our platform.
